Classroom News: September 11, 2017

We started our morning with centers.  As always, students came to the reading center to practice letters and letter sounds.  Some groups are ready to move on to letter blends!  We listened to Clark the Shark at the listening center, sorted dominos depending on the number of dots on them, and put numbers in order on a number line on the ipads.  The ipad activity was an assessment.

After recess, we went to the library to check out books.  Books are checked out for one week.  In order to check a new book out, the old one must be returned.  Our library day will always be Monday.

This afternoon, we worked in our calendar notebooks and started Writer's Workshop.  This is a new routine and a new skill, but the children did a terrific job!  After a short recess, we went to music class with Mr. Sutton.  When we came back to the classroom, we re-read Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?.  Then we did a Bridge Map that focuses on analogies.  Brown is to bear as red is to bird.  The class did a terrific job with this!  This Thinking Map is difficult!  I've included a picture of it at the bottom of the page.

It was a great day in Kindergarten!
