Multicultural Feast! Wow!  Thank you to all the parents who worked so hard to create the food we enjoyed at our feast!  We had a wide array of foods for the kids to sample.  The class was open-minded and willing to try new foods.  At the end I asked many students about a new food they tried.  They were happy to share and then share their opinion on it.  Some foods were not a food they enjoyed, but other people in the room did enjoy it.  That gave us an opportunity to discuss how each of us have difference preferences.  What a wonderful learning opportunity!  Everyone's participation was essential and appreciated. Friday, April 27 Friday, April 27 has become a non-student contact day.  Let's talk about why that came about.  A large number of teachers from districts across the state decided to leave their classrooms on the 27th to visit the state capital to discuss education issues with our legislators.  Although one of the issues being discussed will be teacher salary, educa

Today was a wonderful day!  We started the day by going to Boulder Dinner Theater to see Robinson Crusoe.  It was a fantastic adaptation of the story!  The children really enjoyed it!  Here are a few pictures: We also started Expert Presentations today.  J taught the class about the Star Wars series of movies.  He has extensive knowledge of the subject! N taught the class about the different kinds of veterinarians.  I had no idea there were so many different kinds of veterinarians! B taught us about making chocolate chip cookies.  She even brought some to share!  Yummmm! O is an expert in the wide variety of animals we share our planet with.  His favorite animal is a monkey because they have fur, tails and they like to swing around.

Its hard to believe there is just over a month left in the school year.  Where has the time gone?!  Expert Presentations Expert Presentations start Wednesday of this week.  I am eager to learn from our experts! Field Trip Our Field Trip to the Boulder Dinner Playhouse to see Robinson Crusoe is this Wednesday, April 18.  Do not be late to school!  Our bus will leave as soon as I finish taking attendance.  When people go to see a play, it is generally accepted that they dress up.  Since we will finish the day at school, I am not asking that children come to school in their best clothes, however, jeans and a nicer shirt (maybe one with a collar) would be appropriate.  Please bring a sack lunch.   We will return to school to eat lunch, but our time in the cafeteria will be over.  Eggs Our eggs are in the incubator.  They will be in there for a total of 21 days (we are on day 6 right now).  In a couple of weeks we will, hopefully, have baby chicks!  I will post pictures when they h

Today I sent home the permission slip for our field trip to the Boulder Dinner Theatre to see Robinson Crusoe.  I am really excited about this trip!  The cost is $7 for each student and $7 if you would like to come with us.  We need to have all permission slips and money back by next Monday so we can give the Dinner Theatre an exact count of how many people will be with us.  That's only one week to return the signed permission slip and the money!  I do not want to leave anyone behind, so please send these back as soon as possible! I have attached a copy of the permission slip in case you lose the one I sent home today.  I will probably be emailing and pestering people to make sure all permission slips are back by Monday.

We had a busy and wonderful week! This week is a normal school week!  The following week we will not have school on Friday, March 23 or the following week.  It is Spring Break! Dr. Seuss For the last couple of weeks, we have been reading Dr. Seuss books.  I love Dr. Seuss books, so this is one of my favorite units!  We will focus on that for one more week.  Next week I will send home a sheet where the children can write about which book in their favorite. Report cards You are able to see your child's report card starting today.  I sent a pamphlet home with the report card indicators.  These indicators are what I look at and consider when filling out report cards.  If you have any questions, please send me an email or give me a call.  Judo Math We have started doing Judo Math in class to help the children become more fluent in addition.  Keep an eye out for information about their Judo belts!
