DO NOT EAT!  Please do not eat the gingerbread houses we sent home today.  The houses are glued together with hot glue, we used expired frosting to decorate them, and the candies we used are old candies (I don't know how old).  These are for decoration only.  The children did a terrific job on these!  Please see earlier posts for information about our Polar Express day on Friday, December 15, 2017.  This will be a fun day! Winter Break is coming!  Please check previous posts for the dates. Lost and Found Please check the school's Lost and Found if you are missing coats, hats, gloves, lunch boxes, backpacks, or anything else.  The items in Lost and Found will be donated to charity on December 15.  Colder Weather Occasionally, our weather does get cold.  Please dress your child appropriately to go outside for recess on these days.  We go out to recess every day.  It is essential that they have an appropriate jacket to w...

Halloween Candy Don't throw that Halloween candy away!  Bring it to school.  We will use that Halloween candy to decorate gingerbread houses right before winter break.  Package the unwanted candy up, and send it to school. Pumpkin Pies On Monday, November 13, we will make pumpkin pies.  This is a delicious recipe that I have made with classes for several years.  I need help collecting the ingredients.  If you can help, please go to http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0c45aba72ea3fb6-pumpkin and sing up for what you can bring.  I apologize for the short notice.  I appreciate any help you can offer! Classroom News: Friday, October 20

We had a long, busy day in kindergarten today! Today in a Nutshell We worked at Centers this morning.  I finished re-assessing students on letter recognition and letter sounds.  The kids worked on counting with play-doh, read 2 Let's Find Out magazines, practiced writing letters correctly in our Handwriting Without Tears notebooks, and worked in math journals.  After our morning recess, we reviewed our Orton-Gillingham letter cards.  If you do not have a set of these, and would like a set, please email me and let me know.  I would be happy to send a set home to you.  We looked at the sight words we have learned (the, to, a do, no, I, go, so, he, me, she, we, be, of, was, too).  I was happy that most kids seemed to remember them!  We also read Five Little Ghosts Playing Tricks at School.  I asked if we really have ghosts at school, and the kids happily knew that we do not.  I connected this story back to the rhyme Five Little Monkeys...
